Book two Β· Free PDF

Most of your customers almost bought from you.

The Almost Customer is the marketing book about the people who find you, read your page, compare you, nearly call, and then quietly disappear. Why they walk away, the state they were in when they decided, and how to win them back honestly, including from the AI assistants that now shop for them.

The uncomfortable truth

You don't need more traffic. You need to stop losing the traffic you have.

Every month, people find you, read your page, compare you with two other tabs, maybe even dial your number, and then vanish. They aren't rejections. Most of them are unanswered questions. This book follows them out the door and finds out why they left.

1. The Exit

They hit one small moment that pushed them out. A hidden price, a long form, a quote that arrived too late, a voicemail nobody leaves a message on.

2. The State

Same person, wrong moment. You gave a long story to someone in a panic, or "call now!" to someone who was just dreaming on the couch at 11 pm.

3. The Shortlist

An AI assistant picked three businesses before they ever saw yours. You weren't on the list, or the summary of you was wrong.

Most marketing books study the few people who buy. This one studies everyone else, because that's where the money you've already spent is leaking out.

What you walk away with

Find the leaks. Fix them honestly.

Every chapter starts with a real-feeling customer moment, tricks you with a Mind Trap so you feel the behaviour yourself, then shows you exactly what to change.

  • The Exit Map: the six doors almost every lost customer walks out through
  • The State Map: how panic, comparing, dreaming and guilt change what people need to see
  • Headlines that pass the three-second test on a phone, in a hurry
  • Quotes and follow-ups that win back the people who went quiet
  • What to do with "I'll think about it", without pressure tactics
  • How AI assistants build their shortlist, and how to earn a place on it
  • How to win the human after the machine has done the comparing
  • A 30-day plan that fixes the biggest leaks first

Honest fit check

For marketers who are done guessing.

It's for you if

  • You run campaigns and want to know why some land and others leak
  • You own a business with visitors but not enough enquiries
  • You design websites or write copy and want them to convert
  • You want to be found when customers ask AI for recommendations

It's not for you if

  • Your only plan is to buy more ads and hope
  • You want dark patterns and fake countdown timers
  • You think "price" is the only reason anyone ever leaves
  • You'd rather not look at your own missed calls

Why I wrote it

I kept watching good businesses lose customers they'd already paid for.

Building websites, I see the same story again and again. The ads work. The traffic arrives. People read, compare and get close. Then something small, a hidden price, a slow reply, the wrong headline at the wrong moment, sends them to someone else. Nobody notices, because people who leave don't leave receipts.

This book is about them. Every idea in it is honest, practical and tested against the way real people behave, with no made-up statistics and no tricks you'd be embarrassed to explain to a customer.

Questions

Before you grab your copy

Is it really free?

Yes, completely. Enter your first name and email, and the download appears straight away. You're welcome to share the PDF, but please don't sell it or republish it as your own.

Do I need to read book one first?

No. The Almost Customer stands on its own. If you want the full marketing picture first, Noticed, Trusted, Chosen is free too, and the two work well together.

Is it only about websites?

Not at all. It covers phones, quotes, voicemails, follow-ups, print, events and AI assistants as well as websites. Anywhere a customer can almost choose you is in the book.

Won't the AI chapters go out of date?

The tools will change, so the book focuses on how AI assistants behave, what they read and how people use them. Those principles last much longer than any button or feature.

Will you spam me?

No. You only get marketing tips if you tick the box asking for them, and every email has an easy unsubscribe link. Your details are never sold or shared.
