Need a website?

I design and build websites for small businesses in Surrey and across Canada.

I build websites on all three of these platforms, so I don’t have a favourite to sell you. Each one is great for a certain kind of business and frustrating for another.

Here’s how I explain the difference to clients when they ask which one they should pick.

WordPress

WordPress powers a huge share of the web. You host it yourself (with a company like Hostinger or SiteGround), and you can extend it with themes and plugins.

Good fit if you

  • Want full ownership of your files and hosting.
  • Plan to publish a lot of blog content.
  • Need features like bookings, memberships or an online store through WooCommerce.
  • Already have a team or agency that knows WordPress.

Things to know

WordPress needs regular care. Core, theme and plugin updates should be done carefully, and backups matter. It’s flexible, but that flexibility comes with responsibility. My WordPress websites page explains how I set these up to stay fast and easy to manage.

Webflow

Webflow is a visual builder with hosting included. Designers like it because it gives precise control over layout and animation without messy code.

Good fit if you

  • Want a polished, custom design with smooth interactions.
  • Prefer not to manage hosting, updates or plugins.
  • Need a structured blog or resource section through the CMS.
  • Want your team to edit text and images without breaking the layout.

Things to know

Webflow plans cost more each month than basic WordPress hosting. Some advanced features need third party tools. You can read more on my Webflow development page.

Framer

Framer started as a design tool and grew into a fast website builder. It’s very quick to design in, and the sites feel modern out of the box.

Good fit if you

  • Need a sharp landing page or small marketing site quickly.
  • Are a startup, creative studio or personal brand.
  • Care a lot about animation and visual feel.

Things to know

Framer’s CMS is simpler than Webflow’s or WordPress’s. For a large site with many content types, it may not be the best fit. More detail on my Framer websites page.

Side by side

What matters WordPress Webflow Framer
Hosting You choose Included Included
Ongoing updates You or your developer Handled by Webflow Handled by Framer
Design control High, depends on builder Very high Very high
Blog and content Excellent Very good Good
Online store Strong with WooCommerce Available Limited
Best for Content heavy and feature rich sites Custom brand sites Fast, modern marketing sites

What about SEO?

All three can rank well on Google. Rankings depend far more on your content, page structure, speed and local signals than on the platform. A well built Framer site will beat a messy WordPress site, and the other way around.

My honest advice

Pick the platform that matches how you’ll actually use the site in a year. If you’ll publish weekly and add features, WordPress or Webflow. If you need a beautiful site live quickly and will update it now and then, Framer is hard to beat.
